RC Celta pays tribute to Vigo and its history with a special edition jersey on the occasion of the Reconquista. Inspired by the anthem “Oliveira dos Cen Anos”, this unique garment incorporates in its design the pride and identity that unites the club with its fans, its city, and its symbols.
Next Monday, in the official league match against UD Las Palmas, the team will wear this special kit for the first time. The characteristic sky blue gives way for a day to a jersey that, based on the imagery of our “Oliveira dos Cen Anos”, features symbols linked to Vigo. On the chest, the jersey displays the crest created for our anthem, a symbolic design that integrates the Celta crest, the olive tree with its “silver roots”, and the San Sebastián castle. On the back, the Vigo flag waves, and inside the jersey is hidden the verse “Na ledicia son celeste, celtista no padecer.”
The crest, the numbers, the Estrella Galicia logo in monochrome, and the Hummel chevrons are presented on the jersey with an elegant velvety finish. Additionally, an exclusive typography has been created for the numbers, developed especially from the shapes and aesthetics of the anthem itself. A goalkeeper version has also been developed, following the same aesthetic and emotional line.
The design is the result of joint work between RC Celta and Hummel, under the creative direction of the Late Checkout team, which already participated in creating the wardrobe for the anthem’s music video directed by Antón Álvarez (C. Tangana). The launch of this jersey is also supported by a visual campaign led by photographer Javier Ruiz.
This special edition, which comes with special packaging, goes on sale next Monday the 31st with an initial run of 1,809 units, in reference to the year of Vigo’s reconquest by its citizens against the Napoleonic army. It can be purchased at the Abanca Balaídos and A Sede stores, as well as on the ecommerce site rio1923.gal, a new platform by the club designed to host projects and initiatives linked to the history, creativity, and cultural essence of RC Celta.
