RC Celta fell defeated at Abanca Balaídos by 1-2 against Valencia CF in the match corresponding to the sixteenth round of LaLiga. Eduardo Coudet’s team took an early lead, but the ché team turned the score around to end a sky blue streak of four games unbeaten.
The local superiority of the first minutes of the game was translated into a goal by Iago Aspas who, taking advantage of a mistake by Alderete, took out his wand to dribble in a ball and make it 1-0 with his right foot. A bittersweet goal for the celticos, as the sky blue academy player had to leave the field moments later due to muscular discomfort.
Without time to digest both news, Valencia equalized with a goal by Hugo Duro; a first half in which the RC Celta sought to get back ahead on the scoreboard through Araújo and Brais, but the chances would not come to fruition.

After the restart, Santi Mina had a shot that went too high and, after a warning from Hélder Costa, the former Maxi Gómez made it 1-2 after a cross from Gayà. The reaction of the Celticos was not long in coming, first with a Santi Mina header that Cillessen stopped, and then with a spectacular Brais Méndez bicycle kick. Despite the sky blues, spurred on by the fans from the stands, Valencia finally managed to hold on to their advantage to take the three points from Abanca Balaídos.
