After a historic season that marked the club’s return to the UEFA Europa League, Celta will compete in Europe for a second consecutive season. The music of the great football nights is back, along with the trips and that unique feeling that only European football can create, the reward for a full year of hard work.
The draw, held this Friday, August 28, in Monaco, revealed the names of the eight opponents in this new continental adventure. The draw has paired Celta, from Pot 1, with Juventus at Abanca Balaídos and Olympique de Marseilleaway; from Pot 2, with Union St Gilloise at home and Celtic FC away; from Pot 3, with AFC Bournemouth in Vigo and AC Omonia Nicosia away; and from Pot 4, with Lillestrøm SK at the home of the Celestes and Hapoel Be’er Shevaaway from home.
The first European challenge will arrive on September 16 or 17, with the full fixture list still to be confirmed. UEFA may announce the schedule anytime between now and Sunday, August 30. The league phase will consist of eight matchdays, four at Balaídos and four away from home, and will conclude on January 28. The top eight teams will qualify directly for the round of 16, while teams finishing from ninth to 24th will play a preliminary playoff. The journey ends on May 26, 2027, in Frankfurt.
