Yoel Lago is now officially a Celta first-team player. The academy graduate, who has already spent two seasons with the first team, will wear the number 18 shirt.
During the last preseason, Yoel was the second outfield player with the most minutes, confirming the coaching staff’s confidence in a player who has spent years developing in the club’s youth ranks.
The defender made his La Liga debut on the final matchday of the 2023/24 season against Valencia at Abanca Balaídos. The following season, he combined his playing time with Celta Fortuna before permanently joining the first team in the summer of 2025.
A native of Mondariz, last season he represented Celta in the UEFA Europa League, gaining his first continental experience and adding a crowning achievement to his long career at the club’s academy.
Now, that process is complete. Yoel Lago officially becomes a member of the Celta first team for a season in which Celta will once again compete in Europe.
