Celta Fortuna lost 2-0 against Cultural Leonesa at the Reino de León. A goal by Pibe in the first half and another by Manu Justo in the second half gave the victory to the locals in Day 25 of the First Federation. Despite the fact that Fortuna had the lion’s share of the play, Cultural imposed a total dominance in the areas, which, together with a well-established defense and an unbeatable Miguel Bañuz, managed to stop the Celestial attempts.
The first half started with a determined Cultural that soon reached the rival area to open the scoreboard. It would do so in the 9th minute, when Pibe executed a powerful shot that surprised Marc Vidal, who could not prevent the ball, after touching his hands, from crossing the goal line. In spite of this early blow, the Celestial Subsidiary took control of the game and, little by little, managed to exert real pressure in the opponent’s half. However, the chances were still not converted and the score remained 1-0 at halftime.
After coming back from the changing rooms, Fortuna went on the attack in search of an equalizer. The first to try was Hugo González. The new signing of the Celeste reserve team came close to equalizing with a powerful shot that ended in a great intervention by Miguel Bañuz. This would be one of the many actions in which the local goalkeeper would be decisive, since during the following minutes, the celestial insisted forcefully in their particular search. However, soccer is unpredictable and, more for goals than for deserving, it was Cultural who managed to find the net. Manu Justo took advantage of a one-on-one with Marc Vidal to make it 2-0. This goal from the player from Vigo and former Celeste player would close the result against the efforts of Fredi Álvarez’s team, revalidating the local dominance in both areas and leaving the points at the home of the current leader of the competition.
The highlight of the visit to the Reino de León was the reappearance of Joel López, who returned to the field after a long absence due to injury. Without a doubt, a sparkle of joy for the reserve team and for the club within the result of the match. Congratulations, Joel!
Now, Celta Fortuna is focused on its next challenge against Ponferradina, a match that will take place at home on Sunday, March 2 at 18:00h and in which it will seek to return to the path of victory.
