For the second time, and coinciding with the club’s centenary, RC Celta, through its Foundation, has hosted LaLiga Genuine Santander as the host club. This inclusive and pioneering competition, launched by the LaLiga Foundation, features teams of people with intellectual disabilities. On Friday, April 14, we opened the doors of the iconic A Sede building to welcome the captains of the 22 participating teams. The ceremony, which marked the start of this event, was attended by Carlos Mouriño, president of RC Celta, and Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, who welcomed the teams and wished them a great weekend of soccer and values.
After the inauguration, on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16, the sports matches that kick off the penultimate phase of the competition for the season took place. Over these two days, the A Madroa facilities hosted more than thirty matches divided into three playing slots, in which the passion for soccer was the clear protagonist, both for the players and the dozens of fans and family members who came to support their teams.
Following these matches, RCD Espanyol leads the Sportsmanship Group with 25 points, and Córdoba CF tops the Comradeship Group with 20 points. In the Fair Play standings, Fundación Celta Integra leads its group, Sportsmanship, with 332 points; while Fundación Real Madrid is in first place in the Comradeship Group with 351 points. The competition weekend concluded with the traditional medal ceremony for all participants, led by Carlos Mouriño, president of RC Celta; Clemente Villaverde, president of the LaLiga Foundation; Germán Arteta, director of the Celta Foundation; Olga de la Fuente, director of the LaLiga Foundation; as well as representatives from associated brands and entities collaborating in the competition.
