This Saturday, RC Celta played their first pre-season match at home, at Abanca Balaidos, to celebrate the XXVII Quinocho Memorial Trophy, which is a special edition due to the commemoration of the Vigo club’s centenary.
The match, which pitted RC Celta against Olympique de Lyon, was a sweet debut for the Sky Blues in front of their fans, demonstrating great talent, skill, and strength against a formidable rival like the French team.
The game was decided in favor of Benítez’s men by a single goal scored by Carles Pérez; and even though the team had to resist the intense onslaughts of the rival until the last minutes, the Sky Blues managed to hold on and emerge victorious from the encounter.
Following this victory, the team will continue with their pre-season work and will have the opportunity to face a new rival next Saturday, August 5, in Germany against VfL Wolfsburg in what will be their fourth friendly match.
