Celta and Anxo Rodríguez have reached an agreement to extend the young centre-back’s contract, keeping him at the club until June 2030.
The defender, who hails from Pontevedra, developed at AJ Lérez before joining A Madroa in Under-9. He progressed through the ranks at A Canteira before earning his place at Celta Fortuna, making his debut during the 2024/25 season.
Last season, he established himself as a key player in Fredi Álvarez’s system and was part of the team that secured promotion to Spain’s second division. His progress also earned him a Spain U19 debut in January, before he went on to win the European Championship with the team in Wales last July, alongside his teammate Andrés Antañón.
Now 19, he continues to develop in LaLiga Hypermotion, showcasing the talent that has made him a regular in Spain’s youth teams. His international journey continues with the Spain U20 team, for which he was recently called up.
Celta is once again demonstrating its commitment to homegrown talent, securing the future of one of the most promising defenders in the club’s academy.
Congratulations, Anxo!
