Celta Shareholders Approve the Renewal of the Board of Directors and Endorse the Club’s Financial Accounts

RC Celta

The Salón Regio at A Sede hosted Celta’s Ordinary and Extraordinary General Shareholders’ Meeting this afternoon, with a total of 261167 shares represented, equivalent to 69,27% of the share capital. The meeting was marked by the approval of the renewal of the Board of Directors, proposed by the club’s president, Marián Mouriño, which sees José Maroto and Manuel Villanueva join the club’s governing body.

Shareholders also approved a capital increase as part of a financing round to support the development of Celta360, the annual accounts for the 2025/2026 financial year, the management report and the remaining financial items put to a vote. These included the budget for the current 2026/2027 season, which amounts to €107 million.

The renewal of the Board of Directors was one of the meeting’s main resolutions. José Maroto, a Costa Rican businessman with experience in business and sports management, and Manuel Villanueva, a Galician journalist and broadcaster with more than four decades of professional experience, join the Board alongside Sergio Álvarez, Antón Álvarez, Miguel Álvarez, José Manuel Amoedo and Carmela Cuevas. The new composition maintains the club’s commitment to bringing together complementary profiles with expertise in management, communications, sport and business development.

The renewal follows the departure of Xisela Aranda and José Álvarez, whose term will come to an end. The club thanks both for their dedication, commitment and involvement during their time on the Board of Directors.

Celta president Marián Mouriño opened the meeting with an address in which she reviewed the progress of the club’s project, its main challenges and its strategic priorities for the coming years: “I’m very happy that we’ve spent two seasons among the top 10 teams, an objective we set ourselves so that we could stop being a team looking over its shoulder and establish ourselves in these positions, which allow us to dream and set our sights higher. Two years in European competition confirm that, if we all work in the same direction, we can ensure that a European Celta is not just a dream or a one-off occurrence. Our academy remains our fundamental pillar, and we continue working on the Celta360 project to strengthen it further. Making the Celta360 project a reality, as it is already taking shape and becoming visible, is a major step towards consolidating a serious club with vision and ambition, rooted in its heritage and its surroundings. That is why today we are putting forward a capital increase for approval as part of a financing round that will allow us to take this important step for the next 100 years of the club. This financing round has been carefully and thoroughly planned to achieve one primary objective: to protect the club and ensure that this necessary growth never puts the sporting project at risk,” the Celta president explained in her speech.

Next, Gael García, Celta’s director of communications, marketing and digital strategy, presented the club’s main priorities in communications and brand development. During his address, he reviewed the initiatives launched to strengthen the club’s identity, expand its reach and enhance its connection with supporters through digital channels.

He was followed by David González, director of the Celtista Area, who reviewed the main initiatives developed to strengthen the bond between the club and its supporters. During his presentation, he highlighted actions aimed at encouraging greater supporter participation, explained the work being done to improve season-ticket holders’ experience and introduced the new spaces set to open at ABANCA Balaídos in the coming months: the Conxemar space, the new La Aldeana restaurant and the Taberna Celta.

Celta’s chief financial officer, Miguel Ángel Amo, also addressed the meeting from the podium, presenting the financial results for the previous financial year and the budget forecasts for the 2026/2027 season. His presentation covered the key figures in the accounts, the proposed capital increase as part of the financing round, the evolution of revenue and expenditure, and the measures designed to consolidate financial stability and ensure the sustainability of the sporting project.

The meeting also addressed the status of the club’s main strategic projects. In this section, Carlos Cao, director of infrastructure and institutional relations, provided an update on Celta360, an initiative designed to drive the growth of the academy, training, innovation and the club’s sporting development.

To conclude the club’s corporate presentations, Marco Garcés, Celta’s director of football, provided an overview of sporting planning and the progress of the football project. His remarks focused on squad development, player development and the club’s commitment to nurturing talent from A Canteira, its youth academy, as fundamental pillars for the future.

The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session, during which Marián Mouriño responded to shareholders’ questions about the club’s current situation and its prospects for the future.
