This morning, the Regio Hall at A Sede hosted the press conference announcing Iago Aspas’ contract renewal. The first-team captain was joined by club president Marián Mouriño and Celta’s sporting director, Marco Garcés.
In a warm and relaxed atmosphere, Marián opened the event by highlighting that “it is a source of pride and satisfaction to present this renewal today. We wanted to offer a comfortable solution where Iago could feel at ease, so thank you for making it possible. Thank you for everything you give us, not only on the pitch, but also in protecting and caring for the academy, in the club’s image, and in what you represent for the club and for Celta supporters. I’m very happy to spend another year as president with Iago and to have him here with us.” For his part, Marco also wanted to join “this spirit of celebration. Having him on the pitch for one more year is wonderful. I believe that having a legend playing for another season is a joy for everyone.” Finally, Iago took the floor to thank everyone for the affection he has received and to share his feelings following the renewal. During his remarks, he emphasized that he always thought about his “well-being and that of his family, but also the club’s well-being… This has been a beautiful, wonderful season, as the coach said, worthy of top honors, and we want to repeat it.”
