Celta Fortuna beat Coruxo in the final stretch of pre-season

RC Celta

Celta Fortuna secured a 3-1 victory over Coruxo FC in their penultimate pre-season friendly. On a hot morning at Cidade Deportiva Afouteza, goals from Bernard Somuah, David Sueiro and Jorge Pérez-Lafuente gave the reserve side a confidence-boosting win ahead of their Segunda División debut.

The first half was dominated by the Celestes, with Fortuna controlling possession and spending much of the game in the opposition half. However, it was Coruxo who took the lead with one of their first attacks. Their advantage did not last long, as just three minutes later Bernard Somuah arrived to meet a corner delivered by Hugo López and level the score. From there, the Celestes continued to push forward, with Somuah coming close again and Jan Oliveras testing the goalkeeper from distance with a shot that went over the bar. The score remained level at half-time.

After the break, Fortuna stepped up the pace and were soon rewarded when Sueiro appeared inside the box to head the ball into the net and make it 2-1. The goal put the Celestes ahead, but there was no room for complacency. Fortuna continued to push for a third goal to seal the win, and it arrived in the closing stages. Pérez-Lafuente produced a superb solo run and finished the move to make it 3-1.

With this victory, Fredi Álvarez’s side now turn their attention to their final pre-season fixture, which will take place this afternoon against UD Ourense at the Municipal de Barreiro. An open-door final test that will allow the team to round off pre-season alongside the Celta faithful and build towards a historic campaign in LaLiga Hypermotion.
