Comeback with character at O Couto | Ourense CF 2–4 Celta Fortuna

RC Celta

Celta Fortuna picked up three valuable points on their visit to O Couto. Goals from Álvaro Marín, Hugo González, Bernard Somuah, and De la Iglesia earned the Celta B side a hard-fought comeback in a derby to remember.

The match started with a brave Ourense side that threatened early on and forced Coke Carrillo into action twice in the opening minutes. Meanwhile, the Celestes gradually grew into the game and, after a well-worked move, found their reward before the half-hour mark. Pablo Gavián delivered a cross into the box that Álvaro Marín headed into the net to make it 0-1 and score his tenth goal of the season. However, the lead didn’t last long, as Raúl Hernández equalised in the 28th minute, leaving everything to be decided.

After the break, the home side struck again. In the 53rd minute, a shot that deflected off Meixús ended up in the net, making things difficult for Fredi Álvarez’s side. Far from collapsing, however, they responded with character and found the equaliser through a trademark move. In the 77th minute, Hugo González worked his magic with a free kick that flew into the top corner to make it 2-2 and keep him as the team’s top scorer this season.

The final stages brought chances for both sides, but Fortuna stepped up and, in the 90th minute, Bernard Somuah scored to make it 2-3 and put the Celestes ahead. Rather than sitting back, Fredi’s team pushed for a fourth, which arrived in the 103rd minute when De la Iglesia finished amid a scramble in the box to seal a memorable 2-4 victory at O Couto.

With this win, Celta Fortuna return to winning ways and remain firmly in second place in the standings. Their next fixture will be on Sunday, 17 May, against CD Lugo at Abanca Balaídos, another derby in which they will aim to continue adding three points.
