Celta and the Senegalese district of Parcelles Assainies (Dakar) formalized this afternoon a collaboration agreement to further promote the development of the HAFS Académie Celta in an institutional event held in the Salón Regio at the club’s headquarters in Vigo. The agreement was signed by the club’s president, Marián Mouriño, and the mayor of Parcelles Assainies, Aboubacar Djamil Sané, in an atmosphere marked by closeness and a shared desire to continue building a common project with social and educational impact in the Senegalese capital.

During his speech, Celta board member and project spokesperson Miguel Álvarez highlighted the ties that unite Galicia and Senegal, emphasizing their seafaring tradition, cultural identity, and shared values such as Senegalese “Teranga” —hospitality— and Celta’s “Afouteza” —bravery—, concepts which, as he noted, “from today will bring us even closer together.”
The agreement represents a new boost to the project the club has been developing in Senegal since 2024. Among the main actions is the improvement of the municipal stadium of Parcelles Assainies, where the HAFS Académie Celta trains and competes alongside other local clubs. The project includes the renovation of the pitch and the construction of a residence for twelve young footballers, equipped with bedrooms, a kitchen, dining area, study room, and offices for the academy.
This infrastructure will make it possible to expand opportunities for young people from different regions of the country, especially from Casamance, where the club has already launched several academies in collaboration with local organizations. Currently, more than 500 boys and girls participate in the educational and sports programs promoted by Celta in Senegal.
In addition, the agreement includes an educational component with the creation of a Spanish language classroom at School Unit 5 in Parcelles Assainies, equipped with teaching materials and technological resources from CEIP Párroco Don Camilo. This initiative aims to improve students’ education and open up new professional opportunities in key sectors for the country’s development.
The event also served to reaffirm the shared commitment to education as a fundamental pillar of progress. Both Celta and the authorities of the Senegalese district agreed on the need to create real opportunities for young people, understanding sport not only as an end in itself, but as a tool for personal and social growth. With the signing of this agreement, the Vigo-based club continues to strengthen its international presence and reinforce a model based on social impact, building bridges between Galicia and Senegal.
