Students from CIFP Portovello welcomed this week two members of the club’s communications team: Andrés Montenegro, audiovisual coordinator, and André Taboada, head of digital content, during an event that brought together successful companies that use Galician as their main language.

The Celta representatives shared with the students the importance of the club’s sky-blue identity and the role of the Galician language within the organization’s communication and culture. During the event, Andrés Montenegro and André Taboada explained how Celta works every day to convey its values, roots, and connection to Galicia through all its communication channels. “At its origin, the club was founded with the intention of responding to the cultural concerns of all Galicians. That is why, among other reasons, the name ‘Celta’ was chosen instead of ‘Real Vigo,’ for example,” Montenegro explained.

The session placed special emphasis on the natural and strategic use of Galician as a distinguishing feature and as an essential part of the club’s identity. “With this, the commitment to Galician evolved from being something occasional into becoming a business strategy. And not only in communication — all departments are working under those same principles,” Taboada commented.

Attendees were able to learn firsthand how Celta integrates the Galician language into campaigns, audiovisual content, social media, and initiatives aimed at supporters, thereby strengthening a unique identity connected to the region and Galician culture.

The initiative also created an opportunity for dialogue with students about communication, sport, and cultural identity, highlighting the role sports organizations can play as ambassadors for their own language and culture.
