Javi Rodríguez is now officially a Celta Vigo first-team player. He will be registered with the first team and will wear the number 20 shirt provisionally during this preseason.
Since arriving at A Madroa as a young boy, Javi has grown step by step, completing his entire development at A Canteira and earning a place in the first team. He made his debut in the sky-blue shirt in the 2024/25 season and, since then, has continued to progress. Last season, he established himself as a key player in Celta’s defense, becoming the second outfield player with the most minutes played, only behind Marcos Alonso, in a season where Celta qualified for the UEFA Europa League for the second consecutive time.
His performance and development found special recognition when he debuted with the Spanish national team last June in one of the World Cup 2026 warm-up matches.
With this step, Celta Vigo reaffirms its commitment to homegrown talent, with a player who perfectly embodies the hard work, dedication, and identity of the club’s youth academy.
Congratulations, Javi!
